happy 21st

It was my brothers 21st last week and we had his party over the weekend. He requested our Mum's well known chocolate pavlova which is a Nigella Lawson recipe that she's been making for years. I helped make it this year and felt so proud to be apart of making something so yummy:) I definitely feel confident enough to make it by myself next time. I also helped make a hummus and a guacamole dip from scratch in the new food processor Dad brought us for Christmas. Overall a very successfull cooking weekend!!

just the beginning

I'm officially sharing a room (a large room) with my sister again. We both have similar creative tastes...though I think her's is a little more interesting than mine. She isn't scared to step outside the box whereas I know what I like and I stick with it. We are currently in the middle of combining both out styles so that it still reflects both of us but works together at the same time...I like a challenge. She might be nice enough to let me show pictures  of her side soon but for now this is mine.

It was clean this morning...honestly!!! :) Mum recently brought us some ikea shelves and curtains but I still need to organise all my things. Only problem is I am coming from my own place to only having a room and I have ALOT of stuff. Some of it I will have to cull but most of it I'd like to fit in somehow!

I desperatley want to find a Queen Anne stool (or similar) to have at my dresser so I can do my makeup there each morning but so far no luck.

As soon as I've got the room looking more like "me" I will post more pics.

For now I am enjoying my first Saturday night home in ages and I am going to light some candels and read my magazine.

adding a little colour

Today is Friday and I woke up tired and uninspired. Now that I have woken up enough to do something about it I feel the need to get creative this weekend. Since moving out of my own home (and back in with my parents) I haven't had my own space to decorate and create in and I feel so desperate to get some of that back...even though I only have my bedroom to make my own I plan to do something new and exciting with it. Will let you know how I go.

Since I couldn't solve all my uninspiredness before I got to work today, I decided to add a little colour to my day in the hope that would put me in a better frame of mind...I think it's working:)

crazy weather

so it was so hot and muggy after work today that i thought a walk along the beach was in order. crazy weather coming in though thankfully it didn't rain until I was finished and in the car!!

Very excited to have done my first post. Will leave you with one of my favourite poems.

Last night I had a dream. I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonged to me, the other to the Lord.  

After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.  “Lord, you said once I decided to follow you, You’d walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.” 

The Lord replied, “My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of suffering, when you could see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”
