birthday FINALLY part 1

Hi All

Finally getting to the birthday post:) Just over a whole month later...blogger wasn't working until I downloaded Google Chrome...am I the only one that wasn't using this before?

Needless to say I had a absolute awesome birthday weekend/month. Was totally spoilt and felt so blessed to have the family and friends I do. Much birthday love indeed.

The Friday night before my birthday I headed out to dinner with some friends at Tiger Lils in  Perth City. I'd had an awful day and was almost ready to cancel but I got home from work and one of my friends had brought flowers around and gave me a big hug to cheer me up. I then got ready and was feeling better in no time.

LOVE these shoes:D

Dinner was lovely. I had Pork Belly which is always a favourite and didn't have to buy a drink for myself ALL night:)

We then headed onto a new Whiskey Bar called Helveticas. Their house punch was incredible. A great atmosphere and definitely worth visiting if you live in Perth.

THEN...we ended up at the Shed in Northbridge (lol) for some dancing. Always a fun way to end the night. Cheeseburgers on the drive home was a must:)

Then on the Saturday night I headed out for dinner at a new Bar in Claremont called Duchess. Beautiful tapas menu. Quite loud considering how intimate and uncrowded it looked when I first checked it out during the day but I will go back.

hehe trio of mini hot dogs SO GOOD

I moved around the table a lot as I couldn’t hear anyone from the other end.

It was so nice having a girls night and being spoilt. Loved the combo of my new dress from Kookai and a necklace I found cheap on ebay:)

We headed to Koko Black (chocolate place right next door) after. If you haven’t gone yet YOU MUST. Their chocolate and desserts and beautiful and they have a great savoury menu too.

Will be back with part 2 of Birthday shenanigans soon.

bargain hunter

Hi All

Still trying to get my birthday posts done but they are taking awhile. Hopefully will have them finished this weekend.

Meanwhile in the life of Toots I actually had a much needed quiet weekend the one just gone. Friday night I went into Perth City for the international night markets. They run over Summer (this coming Friday night is the last one) and the food is incredible:) So good being able to try a variety of different places in the one spot. It's reasonably priced and a great atmosphere too.

This time just been I had Butter Chicken, Satay beef sticks (best Satay I've had), deep fried potato twister and by then I was full. Usually I have these amazing Pork Sliders but the stall wasn't there this time. There are dumplings, Japanese, Churros, proper Italian Pizza so many to name and I'm sad I couldn't taste them all! There's always next summer though:) Definitely recommend getting in there!

After that I saw the Hunger Games in Picadilly cinemas (really old cinemas in Perth). I really liked it! Didn't have high expectations and am in the middle of reading the book but now I'm really excited to read the next two:)

Sat morning I had a lovely breakfast in the city on Kings St and then wondered around enjoying the beautiful day.

Got a few bargains...

2 pairs for $30 at Rubi Shoes. LOVE the blue!

Baby One More Time - Rubi Shoes

New massive sunnies (my favourite kind) from a random shop
Finished my hot chocolate before my breakfast even came out

Then I spent the rent of the day cleaning out/rearranging my room and getting my new TV and
surround sound set up. Most exciting:D I was exhausted after that and ended up having pizza for dinner and sitting on the couch watching my TV. Very cozy and happy with my new little set up!

New birthday candle Glasshouse

Sunday I went to Church, made Nachos for lunch, went for a run and then had a nanna nap. Ended the weekend with my new Real Living magazine snuggled up in bed:)

Speaking of bed, my new favourite thing now that nights are getting cooler is to watch shows on my laptop in bed. Last Thursday I left work, dropped in my local cafe to get some potato and leek soup and then got straight into my pjs and lay in bed watching Revenge and sipping my soup. I love moments like that:)

Making me smile today are my new blue shoes:D

Hope you're all well girlies.

lazy saturday

Love those Saturday's when you have no plans, the weather is good and you can just get outside and enjoy it! Last Saturday I woke up late, drove down the coast trying to pick where to stop and have some brunch. Ended up decided on Cafe Relish

It's somewhere you wouldn't find if you didn't know it was there. A friend had recommended it to me and I will definitely be going back! The service was friendly and fast and the food was lovely. I had a big breakfast (my favourite even though I can never finish it) and one of the nicest ice coffees I've ever had! My friend had the banana pancakes which were delish:) Will definitely be going back, would also like to try their lunch menu.

It was lovely just to sit and read the paper and do nothing for awhile. Then I picked up the dress for my birthday dinner and headed back up the coast home...the day was so spectacular I couldn't help but stop and take some pictures. LOVE the weather we have here!

We are coming out of the really hot weather and have cooler morning and nights...I always know Easter is coming when the weather is like this. Can't wait for that long weekend:)

Speaking of easter I brought my first crunchie egg the other day. I couldn't help it...then it melted in the car and I had to refridgerate...it's not the same after that:( I was also given a little bag of mini lindt bunnies, I like the smaller ones coz I find lindt chocolate really creamy.

What's your favourite easter chocolate?

zoo day

apart from going to Taronga Zoo a few years back it has been years (like 10) since I'd visited Perth Zoo. We get free passes year round through work since we sponsor the woylie so my bestie and I thought we'd give it a go.

When I was a kid everytime we went to the Zoo Mum would take us on the train in, then the ferry over the river and that's where the Zoo is so that's what my friend and I did. After paying $10 each for our day ticket we were told that we could have gotten a family pass together and only paid $10 between the two of us since it was a saturday...fail!

We stopped off at Atomic Cafe in South Perth on the way for some much needed sustanance...*insert food pic*

I can definitely reccomend this place. It was quite loud but the food was good and it was one of the only cafe's on the strip with aircon. Considering it was 40 degrees outside we wer VERY happy to eat there!

We had an absolutely awesome day. Being so hot there was hardly anyone there...and apart from slapping the sunscreen on often (though there was actually alot of shade) we didn't feel the heat as much as I thought we would!

My favourites by far were the meekats (alot smaller than I thought they'd be). They were the funniest little things. Also the elephants and the giraffes though I couldn't get a picture close enough to them!

We were pretty exhausted at the end of the day and we treated ourselves to these scrummy passionfruit melting moments for the ferry ride back!

We run out of time for the reptiles lol so I'll definitely be going back:)

food, movies and presents

Hi lovelies
I have so much to blog about this week after all the birthday love I had but I've been so busy I haven't had a chance. Yesterday I got to work and this was on my desk.

Seriously how cute:) No better way to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY than with 12 long stem caramello koalas hehe. Another guy from work make me muffins and then my bestie made me my absolute favourite vanilla cupcakes...not a good week for me health wise but totally worth it all the same. Excersice has also taken a back seat so I could attend all my birthday festivities. Back into it all next week though!

In other news a few weeks back the church I go to set up an outdoor cinema in a local park and watched Napoleon Dynamite. They had done it so well, couches, blankets, popcorn, fairy floss, fairy lights, lanterns etc

It was a suprisingly cool night in Perth so my sisters 9who came along) and I rugged up with our pillow and blankies. It was such a great night. Saw something I thought was quite funny as we picked up food on the way there.

hahaha imagine driving around in one of these! would be good on the petrol though right!! :)

I really love the outdoor cineams. This year Perth got an ourdoor rooftop cinema but I'm yet to try it out. Might have to wait till next Summer.

I also saw 21 Jump St the other night which was really funny, reading Hunger games at the moment and looking forward to seeing that since it's come out this week.

What movies have you seen lately?

end of summer love

Cannnot believe we are already in Autumn!!! Where did the months go? Not that I'm complaining, perth is in the middle of another heat wave this week so we are definitely still having summer weather. Last night was a little cooler and was only 31 during the day...I slept so much better though:)

So excited about where this year is going. Gonna make the most of every moment I possible can and make up for lost time.

Some recent pics of my "end of summer" fun.

shellac

Officially the best thing ever. Though it makes me a little sad to leave my OPI's sitting on my chest not getting any love. Seriously this stuff is amazing:) Lasts a few weeks without chipping and the colour selection is awesome. Also not bad for your natural nails like getting gels or acrylics. AND you can buy your own UV lamp and polish to do at home...think I will have to invest:)

Can't remember the name of this colour but I think the number was 70. Looking forward to trying others!

So thankful that it's Friday. Today was a very significant day for me in alot of ways and I'm looking forward to enjoying a few champagnes after work.
